                      《一》

 

                      致水鸟

    导读  威廉·卡伦·布赖恩特(William Cullen Bryant 1794—1879) 美国诗人  这首诗的“诗魂”是祈盼给鸟儿导航的大自然给自己的人生导航。这首诗的“诗眼”在结尾处“my steps aright”。如果按字句直译为“正确的脚步”，就显得呆滞生硬；我们按照“翻译艺术中的逆向思维”，用否定词加反义词的否定句式翻译，译作“孤单的长路中迈开永不偏离的脚步”，则灵动鲜活，寓意隽永，诗趣盎然。

 披着滴落的露珠，
 天空灿烂，白日的行程就要结束；
 穿过玫瑰色的遥远空际，
 你往何方把孤单的前程追逐？

 看你远远飞翔而无计可施，
 捕鸟人的眼光徒劳眷顾；

Whither, 'midst falling dew,
While glow the heavens with the last steps of day,
Far, through their rosy depths, dost thou pursue

 Vainly the fowler's eye
Might mark thy distant flight to do thee wrong,
As, darkly painted on the crimson sky,

 Seek'st thou the plashy brink
Of weedy lake, or marge of river wide,
Or where the rocking billows rise and sink
On the chafed ocean side?
There is a Power whose care

导读    伦纳德·科恩(Leonard Cohen 1934—)加拿大诗人  死亡在人们心目中总是与悲伤和恐怖相联系的。然而这首诗却是面对死亡的幽默,它不仅一扫悲伤与恐怖的气氛,而且让死亡充满人情、爱意和智慧,读来忍俊不禁。在中国传统的文化观念中,人在死的时候由小鬼到人间来钩走它的魂魄并带往阴间,那往往是一幅凄惨阴森的景象。而这首诗所透露的却是西方关于死亡的另一种传统文化意蕴：人在死亡时,美丽的天使们会从天上飞落人间,一个个前来亲吻死者的额头,送死者去另一个世界，以示上帝对人的临终关怀。“要钱不要命”以及“死要面子”等俗语,是说有的人把金钱或“面子”看得比生命还要宝贵；而这首诗却以幽默的语气表达了另一种文化观念：死也要追求浪漫的爱情。奇思妙想令人拍案叫绝。


导读     伊丽莎白一世(Queen Elizabeth 1533—1603) 四百年前的这位英国女王是开创英国繁盛的一代明君,是 “大英帝国”的奠基人,她运用自己的机巧和才智,摆脱死囚的绝境并取得王位,似乎是英国历史上的第一女强人。然而她写的这首诗表明这位终身未婚的“童贞女王”是世俗道德规范重压下的弱者。这首诗并非附庸风雅之作,而是诗人发自心底的爱的呼喊。该诗通篇都是内心矛盾的碰撞和情感世界的苦斗,它折射出四百年前英国社会转型期的特殊体制以及伦理道德等现象。

导读     室外是漫漫夜路，屋内是新婚洞房。“陌生人”要求留宿，拒之门外于心不忍，有意接纳又怕爱巢徒生尴尬,新郎处于两难境地。虽然诗中反复咏叹 “wish...knew”,似乎这爱的难题无法解答，但字里行间又透漏出了答案。我们可以感受到 “爱”在主人公心中已经得到升华，他不仅希望 “爱”像炉火能温暖一家，而且像阳光温暖人间。

导读     罗伯特•彭斯(Robert Burns1759—1796)苏格兰诗人神韵是语言形式在作品中传达的美妙境界,是阅读过程中所获得的启迪和快感,它似乎只可意会不可言传。其实,神韵并不是虚无缥缈、踪迹难觅的海市蜃楼,它靠具体语言形式为依托得以显山露水。这首两百年来世界广为传诵的名诗就是形式美与神韵之美的结合。诗人用酣畅、生动、直白而又高雅的语言将质朴、深挚、火热、銘心刻骨的爱情抒发得淋漓尽致。


导读    埃德娜·圣文森特·米莱(Edna St．Vincent Millay 1892—1950）美国女诗人  年轻时过着放浪的生活,不知道珍惜情感,到头来得不到真爱。冷雨敲窗,夜游的鬼魂跳荡,枯树独立寒冬,好不凄惨! 哀怨不止,悔恨无尽,这爱情的绝唱动人心魄、发人深醒。汉语能否把这异域哀怨的爱情绝唱再次唱响？另外，诗歌的标题如何翻译颇有讲究。与汉诗相比,英诗较少注重标题的点题作用,往往以诗的第一行作标题。注重标题的点题作用及其诗意发端魅力,是译作成功与否的重要一环。读者可审察本人所有译诗的标题,考究原作与译作标题相左的内在原因。

导读    这首诗算得上西方人的 “葬花词”,前两小节为夏日里最后的玫瑰抒发孤独的伤感,细腻真切；第三小节引出对人的怀念：既然知音真爱已离开尘世,自己也不愿再苟活人间。

         

 夏日里最后一朵玫瑰，
 独自盛开的一屡花魂；
 娇艳的姊妹全都枯萎,
 美丽的同伴尽皆凋零；
 没有花朵相亲,
 更无蓓蕾贴近；
 哪有红颜把她的红颜反照,

导读     神仙作伴,可谓孤独之极；神曲传情,真是思念太甚。清泉闪亮爱人的眼睛,碧波化作爱人的秀发,就连那汩汩流淌的水声也变成与爱人狂吻的背景音乐。这首悼念爱人的诗,通篇不见“爱人”及“悼念”之类的词语。这“悼亡”的意义由“willow”一词隐含,而“爱人”则用代词表达。中国人用“折柳” 表示对离人的依依惜别之情,而西方人用以表示对死者的哀悼。正因为这种文化内含的差异,我们采用注释性翻译手法,译作起首点明“哀悼爱人的亡灵”。另外,由于发音及语言习惯等原因,原作中的代词在译语中大多由名词取代；特别是原作中用来表示“爱人”的女性代词,为了与男性的“爱神”相区别(汉语中两者发音相同),全都换成名词。

柳林下，泉水边，
