Water drops are able to penetrate a hard slate  柔柔未译
Jiang Jie-shi didn’t understand how to attract common people  非正式有用kiss people的 attract比get close to精悍
So he was defeated by Mao Ze-dong who was once well-known as the bandits’ head  ----he was 可以去掉 有用ringleader evil/ boss /bandit chief的

草茂林密甘泉滋
蔽养猫狸成虎师
若无百姓拾薪柴
哪得星火燎原时？
茅根细细能固堤
水滴柔柔可穿石
介石不谙亲黎民
输给“匪”首毛润之

多谢评点。增译了“柔柔”；if与后面的how could配合，虚拟语气更明显；星火后来已经燎原，所以用have become比较好……
kiss people 虽更简洁，但不符合国情风俗；匪首还是用bandits' head较好。
