A Slave May Have a Dream to Be a King

Born in a common family
Have no relatives of aristocrats or government officers
Parents taught me that to earn bread by honest laboring
Don’t dream for richness, fame, or high position

Even a husbandman often has a heroic ideal
A slave may also have a dream to be a king
I’m commanding and maneuvering the troops of seven thousand Chinese【1】
None can stop me running freely in the world with great easy

生在寻常百姓家，
达官贵族不沾亲。
父母教儿谋温饱，
莫想荣华与功名。

匹夫常怀英雄志，
囚奴也有帝王心。
捭阖七千文字兵，
纵横乾坤无人境！
