Who doesn’t have regrets?
Which jade stone is free from defects?

A magnificent building in the past

become a silk thread, drifting and broken.
A sumptuous repast can be bad
for the stomach and intestines.
With unequalled beauty, a fair lady
shows a lack of grace and elegance.
He who is always at ease in his mind
will still be happy in poverty.

佛偈一首

铁冰

我不信佛，但是我很欣赏佛家的“渡人”。为了渡人脱离苦海，无私付出、不惜牺牲自己的种种有形与无形的财富，这是一种何等博大的情怀。作为凡夫俗子，渡人也就是渡己，不管是不是佛家子弟，只要常存渡人之心，也就是在修行了。拥有济世情怀、悲悯之心的人，很多都不是佛家子弟，但他们是与佛家相通的（例如诗圣杜甫）；佛家子弟也经常赞叹他们的善行。我时常在想：如果未来的某一天，全世界的人都一心向善，即使只有十分之一的人信佛，以佛祖的胸怀，他一定会认为佛家的大乘已经实现了。所以我曾经以抽象的佛家的眼光，专门作了一首佛偈来表达这种想法，而这一意思由后面的英译文阐述得更加清晰。

渡人即渡己，
我执非我执。
佛法非佛法，
大乘大彻时。

One'sferrying others is simply one's self-ferrying;
However, my persistence never for myself persists.
When Buddhist idea's ideally shared by all non-Buddhists,
The whole world will be in splendor of Great Vehiclebathing.

【译文大意：对一个人来说，渡他人，就是渡自己；但是，我执着，却从来不是为了自己而执着。当佛家的理念被所有非佛门子弟衷心认同之时，整个世界都将沐浴在大乘佛法的光辉之中。】

博友灵旺也翻译过我的这首偈语，而她是以具体的一个修习者的眼光来理解和翻译的：

One ferries oneself when ferrying others.
The attachment to the self is not necessarily for the self.
The Buddha Dharma is empty of all Dharmas
By the time one is enlightened to the Great Vehicles.

【译文大意：一个人在渡他人的同时也在渡自己。执着于自我并不一定是为了自我。当一个人对大乘佛法的理解达到了“彻悟”，他会明白：佛法的真谛便是万法皆空。】

可见佛学可以让不同的人获得不同的心得与收益。学佛的人之间的交流和分享，一定是充满法喜的。感佩于佛祖的渡人之心，自己也就具有了渡人之心。具有渡人之心的人，是可以忘记生死，忘记尘世的不幸，忘记一切由我执带来的苦痛的。
