（一）
夏日里最后一朵玫瑰
夏日里最后一朵玫瑰，
独自盛开的一屡花魂；
娇艳的姊妹全都枯萎,
美丽的同伴尽皆凋零；
没有花朵相亲,
更无蓓蕾贴近；
哪有红颜把她的红颜反照,
何来叹息把她的叹息呼应!
我不忍离你而去,
你这孤独的精灵；
百花都已进入梦境,
你却还在枝头独自伤心；
我怀着浓浓的柔情,
把你在花圃的落叶扫除干净；
在这里园中伙伴落入尘土,
在这里群芳已经香销玉殒。
等到情意的花朵化为灰尘,
我就随后把你紧跟；
爱的光环耀眼,
只是花草一春；
当知音告别尘世,
当真爱已做古人；
呵！谁还会苟活人世，
去无尽地饱尝孤独、冷清。
这首诗算得上西方人的 “葬花词”,前两小节为夏日里最后的玫瑰抒发孤独的伤感,细腻真切；第三小节引出对人的怀念：既然知音真爱已离开尘世,自己也不愿再苟活人间。
’Tis the Last Rose of Summer
Air---“Groves of Blarney”
’Tis the last rose of summer,
Left blooming alone；
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone；
No flower of her kindred,
No rose-bud is nigh,
To reflect back her blushes,
Or give sigh to sigh!
I’ll not leave thee, thou lone one!
To pine on the stem；
Since the lovely are sleeping,
Go, sleep thou with them.
Thus kindly I scatter
Thy leaves o’er the bed,
Where thy mates of the garden
Lie scentless and dead．
So soon may I follow,
When friendship decay,
And from Love’s shining circle
The gems drop away!
When true hearts lie wither’d,
And fond ones are flown,
Oh! who would inhabit
This bleak world alone?

夜 半 时 分
就在夜半时分，
星星正落泪伤伸；
我飞往我们曾深爱的幽谷,
那时你对生活充满激情。
但愿灵魂能走出幽冥，
但愿你与我重访欢乐的旧景；
请你一定吿诉我，
既使在天上也要把我牢记在心！
接着，我唱起那狂放的歌谣，
那首歌曾多么动听！
我们的声音曾混在一起,
我们的歌唱彼此难分;
那是我们忧伤的祈祷隆隆滚动,
穿过山谷传来那遥远的回声。
呵，我的爱，
这声音来自你天国的灵魂，
把以往亲切的曲调轻轻回应。
夜半时分思念故去的爱人,连星星也陪着伤心落泪；独自唱起往日共同唱过的歌谣,但愿她在天国的灵魂能把这思念的曲调远远呼应。
At the Mid Hour of Night
Air—“Molly, my Dear”
At the mid hour of night, when stars are weeping, I fly
To the lone vale we loved when life was warm in thine eye,
And I think that if spirits can steal from the regions of air
To revisit past scenes of delight, thou wilt come to me there,
And tell me our love is remember’d, even in the sky!
Then I sing the wild song it once was rapture to hear!
When our voices, commingling, breathed like one on the ear,
And, as Echo far off through the vale my sad orison rolls,
I think answering still the notes that once were so dear．

不祥之兆
夕阳还在海浪下昏昏沉睡，
星星还在夜空中闪着余辉；
年青的凯蒂推枕起床，
幸福的脸上红云翻飞；
这是最后一夜空房独守，
她已向一位青年敞开了心扉；
时间就定在中午之前，
他允诺作最后的准备；
少女之心一旦被人偷走
她就会亦步亦趋形影相随。
她照起女人不可缺少的镜子，
或者盼顾或者凝视对镜媲美；
一只蝴蝶刚采过夜间的花朵，
飞上了镜面搅挠这自我陶醉。
这遮挡视线的飞虫让她生气，
用手拂落从此也就再难起飞。
姑娘说这就是我们面容的尊严，
呵！幼稚付出的代价太过昂贵！
她悄悄走进花园，
一颗心重又变得平静欣慰；
她随手摘下一朵鲜花，
用唇吻去夜间沾染的露水；
忽然，她被前面的一朵玫瑰吸引，
竟开放得如此鲜艳娇媚！
急匆匆她俯身要去采摘，
不料腰带绷断心里骤起风雷。
她概叹其中隐含的意味：
爱的波澜让人意懒心灰！
全诗一波三折,把少女新婚前夕早早推枕起床的心态描摹得淋漓尽致：痴情、羞怯、陶醉、欣喜、焦躁、自傲,甚至还会无端生出不祥之兆的隐忧。
Ill Omens
When daylight was yet sleeping under the billow,
And stars in the heavens still lingering shone,
Yong Kitty, all blushing, rose up from her pillow,
The last time she e’er was to press it alone．
For the youth whom she treasured her heart and her soul in,
Had promised to link the last tie before noon；
And when once the young heart of a maiden is stolen,
The maiden herself will steal after it soon．
As she look’d in the glass which a woman ne’er misses
Nor ever wants time for a sly glance or two,
A butterfly, fresh from the night flower’s kisses,
Flew over the mirror and shaded her view．
Enraged with the insect for hiding her graces,
She brushed him--he fell, alas! never to rise---
“Ah! such,”said the girl,“is the pride of our faces,
For which the soul’s innocence too often dies．”
While she stole through the garden, where heart’s-ease was growing,
She cull’d some, and kiss’d off its night-fallen dew；
And a rose further on look’d so tempting and glowing,
That, spite of her haste, she must gather it too；
But, while o’er the roses too carelessly leaning,
Her zone flew in two and the heart’s-ease was lost：
“Ah! this means,” said the girl (and she sighed at its meaning)
“That love is scarce worth the repose it will cost!”

这首诗是对小伙子们发出爱的呼唤。达尔文把爱情称作 “上帝为人类延续后代用甜蜜与喜悦配制的一副药剂”。其实,除此之外它还有痛苦以及迷惑。然而,爱总是盲目的,不管是上天堂还是下地狱,年青人必须去勇敢追寻。
To Ladies’ Eyes
To ladies’ eyes a round, boy,
We can’t refuse, we can’t refuse；
Though bright eyes so abound, boy,
’Tis hard to choose, ’tis hard to choose．
For thick as stars that lighten
Yon airy bowers*, yon airy bowers,

凝望你如痴如醉,
深爱你无怨无悔；
你青春可人，
你容颜妩媚；
你是上天赐与的仙女，

就算你的姿色随着岁月减退；

这首表明心迹的情诗高尚纯洁,真切感人。甘苦与共、至死不渝,这爱的诺言掷地有声：今生甘做葵花时刻向阳,来世愿为青藤永远缠绕。即使是铁石心肠的女子也会为这爱的呼唤怦然心动,泪洒香腮。
Believe Me, if All Those Endearing Young Charms
Believe me, if all those endearing young charms
Which I gaze on so fondly to-day,
Were to change by to-morrow, and fleet in my arms,
Like fairy-gifts fading away,
Thou wouldst still be ador’d, as this moment thou art
Let thy loveliness fade as it will,
And around the dear ruin each wish of my heart
Would entwine itself verdantly still．
It is not while beauty and youth are thine own,
And thy cheeks unprofan’d by a tear,
That the fervor and faith of a soul can be known,
To which time will but make thee more dear；
No, the heart that has truly lov’d never forgets,
But as truly loves on to the close,
As the sun-flower turns on her god, when he sets,

回声
多么甜蜜的呼应，
夜色中音乐的回声，
古琴或号角把她唤醒，
于是跟随光的指引，
远远越过湖水草坪！
身披月光，头顶星星，
情歌响起，
爱也有回声，
把号角古琴与柔和的吉他唱和，
更加甜蜜真诚。
这正是叹息的时候，
因为诚实年轻，
专为一人动情；
只有心中的最爱，
把这叹息回应。
Echo
How sweet the answer Echo makes
To music at night,
When, roused by lute or horn, she wakes,
And far away, o'er lawns and lakes,
Goes answering light.
Yet Love hath echoes truer far,
And far more sweet,
Than e'er, beneath the moonlight's star,
Of horn, or lute, or soft guitar,
The songs repeat.
'Tis when the sigh in youth sincere,
And only then, --
The sigh, that's breathed for one to hear,
Is by that one, that only dear,
Breathed back again!
