白居易
污沟贮浊水，水上叶田田。
我来一长叹，知是东溪莲。
下有青泥污，馨香无复全。
上有红尘扑，颜色不得鲜。
物性犹如此，人事亦宜然。
托根非其所，不如遭弃捐。
昔在溪中日，花叶媚清涟。
今来不得地，憔悴府门前。

Dirty ditches collect sewage water,
Above the water grow the leaves,
I come up and sign,
For they used to be pure from clean river,
Below which the black mud corrupts,
So their fragrance is no more pure,
Above which the smoke dirt spoils,
Then their color is fresh no longer.
The plants get along as this
Human goes on no better,
When feet fall into the wrong place,
They would rather be removed aside,
They once lived in a tidy stream, and
Crystal clear waves help their leaves delicate,
Settling in the unfit fields,
Before the prefecture hall they would wither.
