宛城卧龙

樂遊原
(唐) 李商隱
向晚意不適,
驅車登古原.
夕陽無限好,
只是近黃昏.
Plateau of Happy Tour

I don’t feel happy towards evening,
And ride in a coach up the ancient plateau.
The setting sun is so beautiful;
Only it’s nigh to twilight.

【注释】
1、乐游园在中国唐代长安首都长安城南，地势高敞，是当时著名饿浏览区。此诗为广大读者所喜爱，即景寓情，韵味浓厚。但诗歌的风调却过于悲凉。后人常常把原作中的部分诗句转化为积极向上的诗句。例如，“但得夕阳无限好，不须惆怅怨黄昏”，以及“老夫喜作黄昏岭，满目青山夕阳照。”
2、英译选自海外逸士著作《诗词文英译》。
3、Towards evening: 时光渐向暮晚——向晚
4、Ancient：a. 古老的。Plateau：n. {高}原
5、Setting： 渐沉落的。The setting sun：渐沉的太阳——夕阳
6、Only 或only that: 只有过（可惜）。
