cattle is a collective noun, can't use a before it. why not use cow or bull, or ox, or even buffalo.
ridge is not 陇, which is in fields.

if 陇 = the shortened name of a province, it means that the sound of the flute can be heard at the other side of the province. I don't have such imagination.
