After love
There is no magic any more,
We meet as other people do,
You work no miracle for me
Nor I for you.
You were the wind and I the sea –
There is no splendor any more
I have grown listless as the pool
Besides the shore.
But though the pool is safe from storm
And from the tide has found surcease,
It grows more bitter1 than the seas2,
For all its peace.
注释:
相爱时,诗人把爱人比作风(the wind),把自己比作海(the sea),风暴(the storm)和潮汐(the tide)把大海摇撼得汹涌澎湃。
1. bitter: (1)
