| Yearning after short parting
| In a late-autumn night,
surrounded by the cool moonlight,
| I was evoked for yearning by the cries
from a lonely wild goose in the sky.
| As in a dream, I moved toward the ferry
for the return of my parting wife;
| As being drunk, I lay among the flowers
with sleepy but lingering eyes.
| The bridge where we kissed goodbye
presented no appearance of my wife.
| Only white poplars and weeping willows
showed their close relationship on the riverside.
| The branches and leaves are intervolved,
swearing their loves all the life.
| Facing an autumn breeze,
the trees dances were gentle and slight.
| I was waken by some moving noises,
finding accompanied with a cold bottle of wine
| Suddenly, I heard her voice
from a place not far away behind.
| I turned back and tried to find,
but what I heard in ears isn’t what I caught in sight.
| Shortly, nothing but my parting wife,
entirely occupied everywhere of my mind
