TV News In Hot Summer

A mine exploration is broadcasting.
A sudden light-flush pricks my eyes.
Ice cream is melting.
Refrigerator starts to moan by my ears.
I hear air conditioner dripping its tear.
No cool in the air.
Is the electricity striking a while
To grieve for dead soul?

很有现实意义的一首小诗！
I hear air conditioner dripping its tear.
为啥这个用了一般现在时态了。我见老外用hear喜欢用过去时态。

因为是正在看电视新闻，所以hear 用现在时。
我们中国人对动词时态没有特别的概念，所以我使用时也常常习惯于用现在时。
对于这一点，还望各位指点迷津--- 为什么老外在诗歌里喜欢用过去时，尽管时间不在过去？

I hear air conditioner dripping its tear. (tears)
No cool in the air.
Is the electricity striking a while (electricity failure?)
To grieve for dead soul? (those dead souls?)
