Loon

Thinking of You
Mid February, snow splotched by salt and dirt,
Red Lantern overshadowed by your absence.
Fog over Roseville, heavy as cumulonimbus,
coughs with a diseased lung, all night and dawn
blocking my view.
                             Yet, my thoughts travel
across the continents, above Lakeland
where you, a reclusive sage, rowing in a boat, drunk
counting the falling cherry blossoms, petals
dip their lips into the rippling lake, water
carries your shadow flowing beyond, beyond…

I agree, the imagery in verse 1 is ugly, who likes it? But as what R said the images in v1 and 2 are juxtaposed, a contrast.  Matter- of-factly, I started with a gloomy tone and wanted to end it like that, but it turned out to be a different mood, much to my surprise and I quite like it.

Thanks again for the pick. Yes, the word is big and heavy, even hard to pronounce. Learned it form a friend and wanted to use it someday. Then there it is. It fits the context, I think. Glad you told me what you like about it.
