Into My Own
by Robert Frost
1 One of my wishes is that those dark trees, 10 a
2 So old and firm they scarcely show the breeze, 10 a
3 Were not, as ’twere, the merest mask of gloom, 10 b
4 But stretched away unto the edge of doom. 10 b
5 I should not be withheld but that some day 10 c
6 Into their vastness I should steal away, 10 c
7 Fearless of ever finding open land, 10 d
8 Or highway where the slow wheel pours the sand. 10 d
9 I do not see why I should e’er turn back, 10 e
10 Or those should not set forth upon my track 10 e
11 To overtake me, who should miss me here 10 f
12 And long to know if still I held them dear. 10 f
13 They would not find me changed from him they knew— 10 g
14 Only more sure of all I thought was true. 10 g
