William Shakespeare
O Mistress Mine
O mistress! Where are you roaming?
O! Stay and hear; your true love is coming
That can sing both high and low.
Trip no further, pretty sweeting,
Journey end in lovers meeting,
Every wise man’s son doth know.
What is love? ’tis not hereafter;
Present mirth hath present laughter;
What’s to come is still unsure:
In delay there is no plenty;
Then come kiss me sweet and twenty,
Youth’s a stuff will not endure.

尽管我有这种愿望;
我也觉得你的灵魂美丽明亮;
I Am Not Yours
I am not yours, not lost in you,
Not lost, although I long to be
Lost as a candle lit at noon,
Lost as a snowflake in the sea.
You love me, and I find you still
A spirit beautiful and bright,
Yet I am I, who long to be
Lost as a light is lost in light.
Oh plunge me deep in love - put out
My senses, leave me deaf and blind,
Swept by the tempest of your love,
A taper in a rushing wind.

Thomas Moore
姑娘的眼睛摄魄勾魂;
那密布的星云点起了华灯;
它们显得多么神圣;
呵,切莫轻信;
映照中的爱栩栩如生;
他把自己的归宿认定;
在发出呼唤声声;
To Ladies’ Eyes
To ladies’ eyes a round, boy,
We can’t refuse, we can’t refuse;
Though bright eyes so abound, boy,
’Tis hard to choose, ’tis hard to choose.
For thick as stars that lighten
Yon airy bowers*, yon airy bowers,
The countless eyes that brighten
This earth of ours, this earth of ours.
But fill the cup—where’er, boy,
Our choose may fall, our choose may fall,
We’re sure to find love there, boy,
So drink them all! so drink them all!
Some looks there are so holy,
They seem but given, they seem but given,
As splendid beacons so holy,
To light to heaven, to light to heaven.
While some--oh! Ne’er believe them---
With tempting ray, with tempting ray,
Would lead us (God forgive them!)
The other way, the other way.
But fill the cup—where’er, boy,
Our choice may fall, our choice may fall,
We’re sure to find love there, boy,
So drink them all! so drink them all!
In some, as in a mirror,
Love seems portrayed;
But shun the flattering error,
’Tis but his shade, ’tis but his shade.
Himself has fixed his dwelling
In eyes we know, in eyes we know,
And lips--but this is telling,
So here they go! so here they go!
Fill up, fill up—where’er, boy,
Our choice may fall, our choice may fall,
We’re sure to find love there, boy,
So drink them all! so drink them all!

时光老人脚步分秒不停;
瞬息之间就照上头顶;
人生宝贵就在青春;
找好爱的归宿正当妙龄;
To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time
Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today
Tomorrow will be dying.
The glorious lamp of heaven, the Sun,
The higher he’s a-getting,
The sooner will his race be run,
And nearer he’s setting.
That age is best which is the first,
When youth and blood are warmer;
But being spent, the worse and worst
Times still succeed the former.
Then be not coy, but use your time;
And while ye may, go marry;
For having lost but once your prime,
You may forever tarry.

穿过那黑夜的阴沉;
那里原野似海浪翻滚;
那里群山更比墓穴阴森;
那里要忘却健在的双亲;
我们共同在死亡之中求生;
却又消失罄尽;
现在虚灵;
万事如过眼烟云;
在环宇里浮沉;
我们的面孔互相无法辩认;
却又难以找出那无形的原因;
让我们结合成亘古的永恒;
Invitation to Eternity
Say, wilt thou go with me, sweet maid,
Say, maiden, wilt thou go with me
Through the valley-depths of shade,
Of night and dark obscurity;
Where the path has lost its way,
Where the sun forgets the day,
Where there’s nor light nor life to see,
Sweet maiden, wilt thou go with me?
Where stones will turn to flooding streams
Where plains will rise like ocean’s waves,
Where life will fade like visioned dreams
And mountains darken into caves,
Say, maiden, wilt thou go with me
Through this sad non-identity,
Where parents live and are forgot,
And sisters live and know us not?
Say, maiden, wilt thou go with me
In this strange death-in-life to be,
To live in death and be the same,
Without this life or home or name,
At once to be and not to be---
That was and is not---yet to see
Things pass like shadows, and the sky
Above, below, around us lie?
The land of shadows wilt thou trace,
Nor look nor know each other’s face;
The present marred with reason gone,
And past and present as one?
Say, maiden, can thy life be led
To join the living and the dead?
Then trace thy footsteps on with me;
We are wed to one eternity.
