Lean on the Back
by Yuanyin
Yesterday I was 38
Today I am 78, old, out of beauty
I hitch along streets on my stick
A flock of kids come up
Calling me grandma with regards
Supporting me with hands onto a pew
I feel weak all over, no lean
But on the pew back. I look
At the old and rotten pew, I cannot think
Of its wrecked and long lonely look
Isn’t the pew old also?
All of a sudden I look back at its back
An indistinct word engraved by a knife greets me
Qingqing, I love you, please lean on me
