Seven-words Poem
The Double Ninth Festival

When seasonal flowers start to fade on the grass, The breeze carrying with chrysanthemum scent. Twilight ever rising and illuminating light clouds, Sparkling river waltzes with blackish green hill. As Hermes offering Paris the Apple of Discord, Trojan lord's eyelids filled with fleeting dream. What the visions flitted Giotto and Titian now, On the height my body is turned as fine as soul.

林色落英纷满眼， 菊香风惹似前年。 晖余金缕云头挂， 黛泼凰翎水尾牵。 鹤瘦未通蝴蝶梦， 蟹肥已结镜花缘。 茱萸新插知谁解， 险处心光逐逝川。
Notes: “Chrysanthemum”: Enjoying chrysanthemum is a kind of custom in the Double Ninth Festival. The Double Ninth Festival, also known as Chongyang Festival, is held on the ninth day of the ninth month of the Chinese lunar calendar. It is also known as the Senior Citizens' Festival. “Hermes”：Greek god, son of Zeus and the Pleiad Maia; often identified with the Roman Mercury and with Casmilus or Cadmilus, one of the Cabeiri. “Paris”：Son of King Priam of Troy, fell in love with Helen and abducted her, taking her back to Troy. The Greeks assembled a great army, led by Menelaus's brother, Agamemnon, to retrieve Helen. An armada of 1,000 Greek ships sailed across the Aegean Sea to Troy. “Apple of discord”: A subject of dissension. This expression refers to the Greek myth in which a golden apple inscribed ‘for the fairest’ was contended for by the goddesses Hera, Athene, and Aphrodite. “Giotto”: One of the most important artists in the development of Western art. Pre-empting by a century many of the preoccupations and concerns of the Italian High Renaissance, his paintings ushered in a new era in painting that brought together religious antiquity and the developing idea of Rennaissance Humanism. “Titian”: The greatest Italian Renaissance painter of the Venetian school. He was recognized early in his own lifetime as a supremely great painter, and his reputation has in the intervening centuries never suffered a decline. In 1590 the art theorist Giovanni Lomazzo declared him “the sun amidst small stars not only among the Italians but all the painters of the world.”
