石苔應可踐，叢枝幸易攀。青溪歸路直，乘月夜歌還。
Back to East Brook at Night

The moss on stones must be able to step on;
The boughs on trees are luckily easy to hold.
The way back by the green brook is straight;
I return at night under the moon, singing.

石苔应可践，丛枝幸易攀。
青溪归路直，乘月夜歌还。

Night Trip Back to East Brook

The moss on stones doesn't hassle me to tread,
The branches on trees there avail my grip.
By the green creek road’s straight, I walk ahead
Back home with songs for my moonlit trip.

【转】隋王无功诗：“石苔应可践，丛枝幸易攀。清溪归路直，乘月醉歌还。”闲咏此诗，有疑难者曰：“石苔之滑，践之岂不颠？”余曰：“非也，观诗中一幸字，便得其解，盖言石苔本难践，幸有丛枝可攀援耳。”古人用意，须三思乃得之。谢灵运诗：“苔滑谁能步，葛弱岂可扪？”此反其意。唐杜审言诗：“攀崖践苔易，迷路出花难。”又顺用无功诗意也。

石苔应可践，丛枝幸易攀。
青溪归路直，乘月夜歌还。

Back to East Brook at Night

On the mossy stones I could walk,
Just thanks to the branches to grip.
Path’s straight by the green creek,
Singing, I'm back on a moonlit trip.
