潮打空城寂寞回。
淮水东边旧时月，
夜深还过女墙来。

The hills still surround the old Royal Capital that sprawls,
Tides lonely return after beating this empty Town’s shore.
From the east of the River Hui rises the moon of yore,
O, in the dead of night it peeps thru’ the battlement walls.

The onetime capital is still encircled by the hills,
Tides beat this empty town, back without thrills.
At the east of River Huai the past moon's bright
Peeping thro' the palace walls in the deep night.
