梅花
Plum Blossoms
王安石
by Wang Anshi
墙角数枝梅,
凌寒独自开。
遥知不是雪,
为有暗香来。
At the wall corner plum branches grow,
Against icy coldness they bloom alone.
At a distance I know they are not snow,
For the faint scent wafts into my bone.

【自娱自乐译本】
A few plum blossoms stand at the corner of wall,
Although it's fiercely cold, only they refuse to fall,
From distance I can tell they aren't snow,
For I can sense their scent come and go.
A few plum blossoms stand at the corner of wall,
Although it's fiercely cold, only they refuse to fall,
At a distance I can already tell they aren't snow,
As I can somewhat feel their faint fragrance flow.
【薛湃译本】
Mume Flowers
Some twigs of mume at the corner alone
Are against sharp cold growing on their own.
From far away I know they are not snows-
There's faint scent waft by waft greeting my nose.
【普敬译本】
Some plum flowers dwelling in the corner,
Blossom alone against the chill weather,
I would guess a pile of snow far away,
Oh, there is a soft scent coming this way.
