军舰只是以华盛顿命名。有些感慨吧。
我知道华盛顿是跟任何其它国家结盟的。华盛顿的告别演说（据说是汉密尔顿写的）提到了不跟任何国家建立永久性同盟，那是历史背景使然。没有法国的援助，美国能独立吗？杰斐逊时代通过战争或购买延伸了美国的版图。再到后来成为全球唯一的一极，就走上了国强必霸的路子。
这些做法不但没有跟华盛顿的主张背道而驰，而且是并驾齐驱。不但是在国际关系上如此，美国人在做生意上也是如此。美国人没有天然的永久的伙伴合作关系，今天的敌人也许是明天的朋友，明天的供应商可能是将来的客户。敞开了说去，这一理念深植于西方文化。
还有个感慨。现在我们都嘲笑朝鲜主席世袭制，重蹈我们的覆辙。我要说，如果毛岸英没有在朝鲜牺牲，中国的天下还指不定是谁家的呢。

Why forego the advantages of so peculiar a situation? Why quit our own to stand upon foreign ground? Why, by interweaving our destiny with that of any part of Europe, entangle our peace and prosperity in the toils of European ambition, rivalship, interest, humor or caprice?
