Seven-words Poem

The Mourning Day

Last year's leaves are smoke on top of hill,

Stillness yearns for the departed saint here.

When melancholy drowns inside my heart,

It lives falling out of the skin into the weird.

Departing temptation The Way of All Flesh,

Then the tempest-tossed soul comes to rest.

It matters not whatever Gladiator is idolized,

Obscurely as uncanny Somnus embellished.

清明

青烟郁悒绕山头，

翠柏新阡草色幽。

心雨绵绵分祭酹，

离殇恨恨合香篝。

牵缠尘世浮华去，

遮隔泉台纸鹤留。

最是鬼雄冥国里，

也多欢楚也多愁。

Note:

“The Way of All Flesh”：A semi-autobiographical novel by Samuel Butler that attacks Victorian-era hypocrisy. Hailed by George Bernard Shaw as "one of the summits of human achievement," Butler's autobiographical account of a harsh upbringing and troubled adulthood satirizes Victorian hypocrisy in its chronicle of the life and loves of Ernest Pontifex. Along the way, it offers a powerful indictment of 19th-century England's major institutions.

"Gladiator": Gladiator is a 2000 epic historical drama film directed by Ridley Scott and written by David Franzoni,John Logan,and William Nicholson. Crowe portrays Hispano-Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius, who is betrayed when Commodus, the ambitious son of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, murders his father and seizes the throne. Reduced to slavery,Maximus rises through the ranks of the gladiatorial arena to avenge the murders of his family and his emperor.

"Somnus": Papaver somniferum. Papaver is Latin for poppy. Somniferum is from the Latin somnus (sleep) and ferre. (bring) or"inducing sleep” referring to the narcotic. properties of the opium resin in the fruit of this plant.
