     儒尔夫•沃尔多•爱默生(Ralph Waldo Emerson 1803—1882)  美国诗人  心中的恋人对自己尚未接受,还保留着某种距离,甚至神色警觉、目光抗拒。然而诗人却突发奇想、果断出击,以这首直抒胸臆的情诗相赠。诗的结尾堪称格言警句。这执着的追求出人意外,又在情理之中,当然也会收到出奇制胜的效果。 
 

 呵，美丽华贵的姑娘，
 高天的火炬将我们的双眼一同点亮！
 我要如此推测，
 我要这样猜想。

 你用温柔征服我的意志，
 你用圣洁抚慰我的衷肠；
 我要如此推测，
 我要这样猜想。

 呵！我要大大方方面对心中的恋人，
 我要堂堂正正凝视你迷人的面庞；
 不畏惧你永远警觉的神色，
 不害怕你处子抗拒的目光。

 你的神色愈是警觉，
 愈是具有诱惑的力量；
 你的目光越是抗拒，
 越是让我心醉神往！
