Inspired by QS's superb version, I also give it a quick try for fun...^_^


欲过篱笆看嫩鲜，
小童急唤指山泉。
惊看黄犬浑如豹，
已伏前躯欲扑鸢。


As I try to cross the hedge to see the green agleam,
A lad suddenly screams by pointing at mountain stream.
So startled, a yellow dog as big as a leopard in sight,
She is crouching ready to pounce upon a black kite.

The Chinese original is 已伏前驱, crouch seems to mean the different thing. You may not be familiar with the pose to be taken by an animal llike a dog  before attack.

That is an excellent version for me to learn and enjoy as well.

crouch = lower the body with the limbs close o the chest (of animal) before pouncing

The lion crouched ready to pounce

My query is "keep lowering its forelimbs"

I can understand 'keep lowering the price' but 'limbs' how?

Yes, the forepart of the body is down and the back part of the body is up. That is what I mean.

A short rein that extends from a horse's bit to the saddle to keep the horse from lowering its head
