学习赞叹自娱君的佳译！修改稿如下。
The dark twilight makes the bleak mount so vast,
A cottage seems so bare in the cold weather cast.
Why barks the dog at the wood gate so piercingly?
Against snowy wind a traveller passes by lurchingly.  

不用客气，相互学习，共同提高。
现在谈谈读后感：
1。如果读者不谙中文，在读了第一句后的理解是‘黑暗的黄昏使苍白的山显得巨大，而非‘日暮苍山远’的原意。

2。 twilight 指黄昏时刻，夜幕降临，难道还会 bright? 所以，dark 似乎多余了。

3。 A cottage seems so bare in the cold weather cast. 这个 ‘cast'  显然是为了凑韵，再则，这样用法‘别扭’，语法上似乎说不通啊，副词呢还是。。。？

4。Why barks the dog at the wood gate so piercingly?

为什么要变为疑问句呢？原文似乎也没有这层含意啊？另外，语法错误，it should say 'why does the dog bark' regardless whether it is a poem or not.

5。 pass by 是表示‘路过’的意思，那么读者的理解是 ‘一 traveller 顶着/ 冒着风雪匆匆而过’而不是 ‘风雪夜归人’-----一位来投宿的人


有说的不对之处，还请普敬君海涵。

against 用得很好。我原来也想用，但觉得太长也就放弃了。

这二句还是不错的，赞一个!

1、cast之意义，诚如您所言，'a cottage cast in the cold weather'，强调其笼罩于凄冷的天色中。

2、vast or boundless 有悠远辽阔之义，可以不取“巨大”之意吗？

1。你的意思是说 cottage （被）抛入于凄冷的天色之中？ 如果是的话，那么是谁把茅屋抛入的呢？其实，没有那个 cast 也一样表达了你所想表达的意思。 in 这个词已经包含了‘笼罩’之意。再说，你的句子含有被动的意思，然而 cast 和 seems 隔得那么远，个人认为容易产生歧义或不明。

2。一，‘悠远辽阔’和‘巨大’是近义词吧？二。现在看来，你我对原文的理解有不同之处，所以我要道个歉，不应该把我的理解强加于你。你的理解是根据你上面贴出的‘诗意解说’而来的，说的是投宿人在山中行走，而我的理解恰恰相反，所以出现的画面也就不同。

【无心剑译本】

At nightfall I feel so distant of the green hill;
The thatched cottage looks stark in the chill.
I hear the dog barking at the brushwood gate;
O the host in wind and snow returns so late.

首句，I feel so distant似乎不当，常见用法是：I feel sad/cold（接形容自己的形容词），或I feel it adj...
还有distant是形容词，其后能否接of sth？可考虑如下表达：
I feel the green hill so distant
I feel (myself) so distant FROM the green hill

第三句“柴门”为何译为“灌木门”？
第四句的感叹词O似无必要。



【普敬译本】

The twilight makes the bleak mount so boundless,
In the cold weather a cottage seems so casualness.
The dog barks at the brushwood gate piercingly,
Against snowy wind  returns a traveller lurchingly.  

第一句：如果不是在黄昏，山就不是boundless的？mount宜用复数。
第二句：casualness形容cottage，出于什么考虑？
第三句：何以见得狗叫是piercingly？
第四句：何以见得是lurchingly？




【自娱自乐译本】

The blue hill appears much farther at nightfall,
The thatched hut seems shabbier in a chill day.
Suddenly a dog barks at the wicket-door-way,
A traveler in the snowy wind comes forth to call.

一二句用比较级，妙。
第二句a chill day，似应改为the/this/such a，因为这是特指“今天”。
第四句：既然是A traveler COMES to call，那么全诗的叙述者应该是“白屋主人”了，这与原意不符。原意是作者（traveler）而非主人看见“日暮苍山远，天寒白屋贫”。

Yep, spot on! Initially, I did say 'such a chill day' in my draft, but later on I felt it was a tad too long, so I chopped it off.

Having said that, I reckon it should be able to get away with 'in a chill day', for it is just a generalized situation.

As for the last line, please refer to my previous posts above.
