noun: halt, cessation, pause, stay


What is the definition of 'stay'

stay   /st'e?/
Synonyms:
verb: remain, stop, abide, keep, stand, tarry
noun: support, prop, stop

Does 'stand' tell us the duration, no, it could be long or short, and by the same token, does 'stop' tell us how long or short the action is going to be, no, so....

At the end of the day, it is just a bloody poem, right? it is just for fun only, right? No big deal at all! hehehe

自娱兄，第一句“小立”表明刚站一会儿，也就是说先前她在园子里散步，走到花前突然停下来了，所以用“stop”这个词就能暗示出这个由走到停的过程。

没看见自娱兄译文中的“stop”，还真没领略出原诗中“小立”的妙处。由此可见，译诗有助于更加微妙地领略原诗的韵味。
