The Reply
by Supreme Hermit
Occasionally I come under the pine tree,
Sleeping with the stone as my high pillow.
No calendar on the mountain could I see,
Winter ends, what year it is I don't know.

I come under this pine at will,
Sleeping with a rock as pillow.
There's no calendar on the hill,
What winter ends I don't know.

By chance I ramble to be under this pine tree,
And upon a rock as my pillow I lie down to sleep.
In mountains no chronicles required to keep,
Winter repeats, yet no days are counted by me.

By chance I am under this pine,
A rock as a pillow I take a slumber,
In hills, to no calendar I confine,
Which winter ends I ne'er remember.

incidentally under this pine tree,
sleeping, I let a rock pillow me.
no calendar in hill,
so which winter ends, idea's nil.
incidentally under this pine tree,
sleeping, I let a rock pillow me.
in hills, no calendar to see,
so which winter ends, carefree.

sleeping under this pine
a rock as a pillow, fine
no calendar in hill
winter ends, which age, nil

To An Inquirer
Word by An anonymous "Supreme Hermit"; Tr. Iceiron
I happen to sleep by the pine tree;
A stone pillows my head carefree.
In mountains deep no calendar's here,
Winter's gone, but I don't know the year.

I come sleeping by a pine tree;
The rock pillows me carefree.
In hills deep no calendar here,
Winter ends not telling the year.

To An Inquirer
Word by An anonymous "Supreme Hermit"; Tr. Iceiron
I just happen to come beneath the pine trees and sleep,
Casually pillowing my head upon a stone.
No calendar can be seen here in mountains deep,
Though one more winter's gone, the year's to me unknown.
