上邪！
我欲与君相知，
长命无绝衰。
山无陵，
江水为竭，
冬雷震震，
夏雨雪，
天地合，
乃敢与君绝！
The Pledge
in the Songs of Music Bureau
O, heaven above!
I want to love thee,
Never fade as I am alive.
When hills become plain,
Or away rivers drain,
When thunders clap the winter,
Or snows blow the summer,
When the grounds caress the sky,
Only then shall my love die.

This soul-stirring poem is sung by a girl to express her passionate  feelings to her lover, in the counterevidence which the five above natural phenomena are impossible to occur. It consists of lines varying in length, and its tonal pattern and rhyme scheme are not very strict, therefore  it shows that the linguistic skill of the ancient poetry in that times was still in its embryonic stage and not very sophisiticated. However it maintains a bold, frank and simple writing style of folk songs.

“我常常听到人类说月亮代表我的心可那些对着月亮起誓的人们难道不知道月亮是最善变的吗他们难道都看不见的吗？”
“小白，有一种看不见是叫做视而不见的。”
“还有我常听到男孩说要为女孩摘星星，可如果一个男孩连星星都答应为你去摘，那他的话还有什么值得相信的呢？人类的女孩难道都听不懂这是谎话吗？”
“有一种听不懂是故意听不懂的。人类的恋爱说到底就是一种修辞术罢了，哪有我们兔子的爱情真挚。”
“恩，所以说人类的爱情果然是盲目的。幸亏我们兔子不是。”
“对，我们当然不是。”
“那，小灰，你喜欢我吗？”
我当然喜欢你啊。
“有多喜欢？”
“喜欢到全世界所有的向日葵都不再朝向太阳为止。”
“还有呢？”
“喜欢到全世界所有的卷心菜都开了心。”
