To Parting

娉娉袅袅十三余，
豆蔻梢头二月初。
春风十里扬州路，
卷上珠帘总不如。

She is slender and graceful between thirteen and fourteen,
Just like a blooming cardamom at the second moon's start.
She’s seen when the spring breeze uprolls the pearl screen,
No beauties on Ten-Mile Street like her conquer my heart.

Spring in South of Yangtze River

千里莺啼绿映红，
水村山郭酒旗风。
南朝四百八十寺，
多少楼台烟雨中。

Everywhere green leaves set off red flowers and orioles joyfully sing;
In villages by rills and towns by hills, wind makes inn-banners swing.
Four hundred and eighty temples of Southern Dynasties still remain;
So many pavilions, terraces and towers are veiled in the misty rain!

To Judge Han Chuo at Yangzhou

青山隐隐水迢迢，
秋尽江南草木凋。
二十四桥明月夜，
玉人何处教吹箫？

Green hills in the mist and rivers on a long way,
Late autumn withers the southern plants away.
Twenty four bridges stand in the moonlit night,
Where do you teach her to play flute in delight?

这是一首调笑诗。诗的首联是写江南秋景，说明怀念故人的背景，末联是借扬州二十四桥的典故，与友人韩绰调侃。意思是说你处在东南形胜的扬州，当此深秋之际，在何处教玉人吹箫取乐呢？意境优美，清丽俊爽，情趣盎然，千百年来，传诵不衰。

Tomb-Sweeping Day

清明时节雨纷纷，
路上行人欲断魂。
借问酒家何处有，
牧童遥指杏花村。

Rain ceaselessly falls on Tomb-Sweeping Day,
So heart-broken are the mourners on the way.
When I inquire where I would find a wine bar,
A cowboy points to Apricot Flower Village afar.

Rain flutters on Tomb-Sweeping Day,
How sad are mourners on their way!

Going up the Hill

远上寒山石径斜，
白云深处有人家。
停车坐爱枫林晚，
霜叶红于二月花。

The stone path slants up the chill hill far in sight,
In the depths of white clouds a household looms.
I stop my coach to enjoy frosty maples in twilight,
The leaves are redder than early spring's blooms.

58、泊秦淮

Mooring on the Qinhuai River

杜牧

烟笼寒水月笼沙，
夜泊秦淮近酒家。
商女不知亡国恨，
隔江犹唱后庭花。

The cold river's veiled by mist and sands by moonlight;
Near a wineshop as I moor on the Qinhuai river at night.
Not knowing the conquered country's deep resentment,
The geishas beyond the river still sing for entertainment.

译于2010年6月24日。

这首诗是即景感怀的，金陵曾是六朝都城，繁华一时。目睹如今的唐朝国势日衰，当权者昏庸荒淫，不免要重蹈六朝覆辙，无限感伤。首句写景，先竭力渲染水边夜色的清淡素雅；二句叙事，点明夜泊地点；三、四句感怀，由 “近酒家”引出商女之歌，酒家多有歌妓，自然洒脱；由歌曲之靡靡，牵出“不知亡国恨”，抨击豪绅权贵沉溺于声色，含蓄深沉；由“亡国恨”推出“后庭花”的曲调，借陈后主之尸，鞭笞权贵的荒淫，深刻犀利。

霜刃未曾试。
今日把示君，
谁有不平事？

To sharpen my sword ten years slip away,
Its frosty blade hasn't been tried anywhere.
O, my friend, I show you the sword today,
Who is suffering from something unfair?

Sharpened for ten years,
But untried of brilliance,
Today it is shown to you,
Who has any grievance?

O sharpened for ten years,
The hidden blade's stainless.
Now I show it to you in tears,
Who's suffering unfairness?

译于2010年8月1日。

注：第三句本想译成“Now I show it without fears”，表达了“无畏”，却没有表达“感动”，总觉得不好，因此译成“Now I show it to you in tears”。千里马常有，而伯乐不常有，倘若千里马真遇到伯乐，岂不感激涕零！

Just on the thirtieth day of the third moon,
Spring will leave hard-chanting me so soon.
Tonight you and I should always stay awake;
It is still spring till the bell heralds daybreak.

When March comes to the thirtieth day,
To chanters like me spring bids farewell.
Sleepless tonight you and I should stay,
It is still spring ere the toll of dawn-bell.

Enjoying Flowers

苏东坡

踏花归去马蹄飞，
去马蹄飞酒力微。
酒力微醒时已暮，
醒时已暮踏花归。

Treading on fallen flowers, my horse returns in flight,
On my horse in flight, I feel a little drunk in the wine.
When I sober from the wine, it is already at twilight,
I return on my horse on flowers with a mood so fine.

赏花归去马如飞，
去马如飞酒力微；
酒力微醒时已暮，
醒时已暮赏花归。

I return from enjoying flowers on my horse in flight,
On my horse in flight, I am a little drunk in the wine.
When I sober from the wine, it is already in twilight,
Sober in twilight, I return from enjoying flowers fine.
