自娱自乐

梨園子弟白髮新，
椒房阿監青娥老。
夕殿螢飛思悄然，
孤燈挑盡未成眠。

The performers of the imperial troupe had more white hair,
The maids and eunuchs for belle's boudoir grew older there.
As fireflies flew in the hall at night, he was lost in his heartache,
As the solitary candle burnt itself out yet he still stayed awake.

遲遲鐘鼓初長夜，
耿耿星河欲曙天。
鴛鴦瓦冷霜華重，
翡翠衾寒誰與共？

The bell and drum shilly-shallied to toll to wake up the long night,
The Milky Way was still bright as the dawn spitted out its first light.
The heavy cold frost covered the mandarin-duck-tiles on the roof,
The lonely emerald quilts were cold, could anything be chill-proof?

自娱自乐

悠悠生死別經年，
魂魄不曾來入夢。
臨邛道士鴻都客，
能以精誠致魂魄；\r

Years gone by since their life and death parting so extreme,
Yet her soul had never ever visited him even in his dream.
A Taoist from Lingqiong who now visited the capital was said
To be capable of summoning the spirits of the dead.

好，再贴一段。呵呵呵，我真的要好好感谢逸士。说实话，没有他的勉励和激励，我想我这一辈子都不会去翻这首长诗。我完全同意逸士所说的‘翻这样的东西只有好处而没有坏处’----- I know I don't have to do it, but I like it for leisure and pleasure, that's it, pretty simple indeed! As for whether my version is good or not, I don't give a damn rap!

為感君王輾轉思，
遂教方士殷勤覓。
排空馭氣奔如電，
升天入地求之遍；


Greatly touched by the emperor's constant yearning for her,
So the courtiers asked this Taoist to find her wheresoever.
As fast as lightening he rode on the air into the earth and space,
He was searching for her in every possible place.

上窮碧落下黃泉，
兩處茫茫皆不見。
忽聞海上有仙山，
山在虛無縹緲間。

Up he scoured heaven and down he probed hell.
Yet her trace was not in heaven, and not in Hades as well.
Suddenly he heard there was a fairy mountain on the sea,
Which roamed in Great Void where he then went to see.

樓閣玲瓏五雲起，
其中綽約多仙子。
中有一人字太真，
雪膚花貌參差是。

Beautiful towers rose high in veil of five-colour-cloud,
Where there were so many gorgeous fairies in crowd.
And fortunately one of them, Taizhen was her name,
With belle's flowery face and snowy skin nearly the same.

金闕西廂叩玉扃，
轉教小玉報雙成。
聞道漢家天子使，
九華帳裡夢魂驚；

Of the west bower in golden palace he knocked on the jade-door,
From Xiaoyu* to Shuangcheng* a message was sent to her floor.
As she was told an envoy of the Han emperor was asking for a call,
She was startled from her dream in the splendour canopy in her hall.

攬衣推枕起徘徊，
珠箔銀屏迤邐開。
雲鬢半偏新睡覺，
花冠不整下堂來。

She pushed the pillows aside to grab her gown but dillydallied to arise,
Then her silver screens and pearl curtains shillyshallied to open and rise.   
As she just awoke, her cloud-like hairsyle was half-way askew;
Walking into the hall, her crown ornaments were all awry, too.
