The Plain Life

此生淡泊无所求，
不羡他人竞风流。
译园似有安心处，
哪管世间春与秋！

This life I won't beg for wealth and fame,
Nor envy anyone with a widespread name.
I rest my mind in this translation garden,
No matter what on this planet will happen.

White Lotus

清香扑面来，
何似在人间。

It is so hot on this summer day,
White lotus blooms with a smile.
Faint fragrance wafts my way,
I seem in the fairyland awhile!

Orchid

空谷生幽兰，
临溪独自开。
迎风笑嫣然，

In the secluded dale an orchid grows,
Alone she fully blooms by the stream.
In the wind a sweet smile she shows,

“empty dale”, u might consider further. “空谷”, mmmm, means very peaceful and silent, not empty.

【CalmSea】

在“空”这点上我完全同意Free-er的观点。但用Empty是否为佳，很感谢Free-er能够提出问题，引发我的思考。

思考了一下，假如是我，我也会选择Empty这个词。我的理由如下：

“空”在这里意境很多，正如Free-er提出的。如果能有个英文单词对号入座，对于翻译来说，那是再好不过。但无论用其他哪种解释所对应的单词来翻译 “空”，多少都会使得原意的空间被缩小。例如，slient 可以描写无声的空，却无法描写空间的空，peaceful 可以描写心境上的空，却无法诠释其他的“空”，等等。而“empty”这个单词，能够给人以更大的空间去遐想，相对全面地展示了原文中的“空”。

以上是我的个人想法，请 Free-er 不要介意我的相反论调。欢迎我们共同探讨，也希望更多的朋友提出自己的意见。

这首诗翻译得很好，我很喜欢这篇作品。

The winding clear stream takes my worry away.
